DFW'S BEST LOCAL BREAKFAST JOINTS

Oddfellows is a fresh and unique restaurant serving breakfast in the historic Bishop Arts District of Oak Cliff  deep in the heart of Dallas. Oddfellows has been named in several publications, including Texas Monthly'"Best Breakfast" list, for having one of the greatest breakfasts in Dallas Fort Worth and I must say, I do agree with the critics on this one! This place is awesome!

Oddfellows offers a very bright, vibrant, modern, and clean ambiance, perfect for a pleasant and peaceful breakfast! The outdoor sitting area with outdoor window service area is perfect for a cup of coffee and a breath of fresh air. The full service coffee bar serves a variety of java and is sure to have just what your looking for!  They also serve alcohol just in case your looking for a mimosa or bloody mary. The Oddfellows menu offers a unique selection of breakfast entrees in addition to all of the classics. During our visit we sampled a variety of offerings and we were pleasantly surprised to say the least!

Pancake Platter

Our breakfast included their famous pancake sampler with gingerbread, red velvet, and strawberry buttermilk pancakes, the duck hash and eggs, fired egg sandwich, and coffee. Every bite was filled with flavor and tasted great! Oddfellows touts the fact that they use fresh, locally sources ingredients, and it truly shows in their quality focused food. The menus is full of other interesting choices including French toast pudding, monkey break, and a green chili scramble. Not only was the food great, it came out hot and fast! The americano coffee was tasty  with a robust flavor, but not too bold.

Service was good and the staff was very upbeat, pleasant, and friendly. Although the building appears to be old, the restaurant was very clean and organized. The historic location of the restaurant dictates limited parking, but this was no problem for our weekday visit. The outdoor counter seating added to the casual feel of the restaurant and invites everyone to stop in and see why their slogan"food for all" is more than just a catch phrase.

Oddfellows is wonderful and amazing! This restaurant will with no doubt be added to our Best Local Breakfast Joints section and be added to our Best Breakfast in Dallas 2012 list.

Bread Winners - Plano, Texas

This place is very good and consistently delivers as one of the best places for breakfast in the North Dallas, Plano area! Bread Winners has made Texas Monthly and D Magazine's best places for breakfast in Dallas list for good reason.

The restaurant itself is very nice with a warm rustic decor and appears nice and clean. They have a full service bar complete with mimosas and bloody Mary's. An adjacent sun room at this location provides plenty of seating and adds to the ambiance. We have been on a couple of occasions and service has been ok. The prices are fair and portions are big making this breakfast or brunch a great value.

The coffee is great and hot and the complimentary variety of sweet bread they bring to your table is great! They have a wide selections of pastries but the main brunch menu is big. We have a few more entrees and everything has been great! The entrees range from classic egg combos to more unique gourmet dishes like beef brisket hash and eggs at very reasonable prices.

Overall the critics are spot on with this restaurant being one of the best places to have breakfast in Dallas! Tell us what you think and if you agree that this is one of the best places to have breakfast in Dallas!

**UPDATE! 7/23/13
Bread Winners continues to offer a creative menu and flavorful menu! Recently sampled the Brisket & Hash and the Crab Cake Benedict, each were above in taste, quality, and value! If a simple breakfast is what you like, basic egg combos are also available with a large variety of freshly baked bread and pastries. This place is totally worth a visit! They have four locations in Dallas; Plano, Uptown, Inwood Village, and North Park Center. According to Breadwinners website, they are open for brunch until 3PM.

BENEDICT'S - ADDISON, TX

This is a great independent breakfast restaurant located just north of Dallas in the small suburb of Addison. Serving breakfast and lunch, this is a great spot for a fast, quality breakfast or late Sunday brunch with the whole family.
Although this restaurant does not offer counter service or any booths, they do keep a coffee pot on the table, much like you see at IHOP, allowing you to keep your coffee cup filled the entire time! Large windows throughout the restaurant offer a bright and welcoming dinning room.
The food is consistently served fast and is always fresh with great flavor. They offer a wide variety of sensible entrees with a limited selection of traditional souther fired foods. The “Joe’s Special” is awesome and one of my favorites! A wide variety of unique breakfast entrees are mixed in with all the breakfast classics, including basic egg combos, omelets, Belgian waffles, and corned beef hash. They usually have a “featured special” for every season, such as pumpkin pancakes! The orange juice is a fresh squeeze and well worth the extra cost.
Service in the restaurant is usually attentive and friendly, but never really “wowing.” Overall cleanliness is very good, dinning room and restroom appear tidy and well maintained. Management is friendly and seems to always engaged in ensuring customer satisfaction. Pricing is a bit steep, but the attention to detail and product quality makes it a good value. Although they have a cash register in the front lobby area the servers will process your payment at the table making the departure fast and convenient.
Overall I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast in north Dallas. Located just west of the Dallas North Tollway, the location is easy to find at the corner of Beltline Road and Addison Road. It is a great destination and I support the ratings on Urbanspoon and think the ratings on Yelp slightly misrepresent the overall quality of this independent breakfast restaurant!
